Medicine Hat News Families are once again invited to ring in the new year as the Family Leisure Centre hosts its annual New Year’s Eve Fest. The event has grown in size each year, with admission costing only $2 per person, with each admission receiving a free snack while supplies last. Events throughout the day include the Kinsmen Aquatic Park being open for two swim times: 12-1:45 p.m., and 2:15-4 p.m., with patrons interested in swimming able to select a ticket for one of the swim times to maintain capacity levels. In the Cenovus Arena, families can go for a skate. Ice will be cleared at 1:45 p.m. so children can watch the zamboni at work, with skating resuming again at 2:15 p.m. In the FLC’s fieldhouse, there will be a “Nerf War” with blasters available while supplies last. In the FLC’s gymnasium, preschool aged children can work exercise their gross motor muscles with “Tot Time!” while older kids can bounce in the inflatable alley. The Sage Room will be an area for breaks and games with the family. Wrapping up the event is the annual balloon drop, taking place at 3:45 p.m. in the main lobby. 10
