Despite a balmy start to December, snowfall Monday with more snowfall expected throughout the week means it should be a white Christmas in the Hat after all.
A special weather statement was issued by Environment Canada early Monday, saying that Medicine Hat and the rest of southern Alberta could be seeing 10 to 30 centimetres of snow beginning Tuesday afternoon and ending by Wednesday evening. The statement was ended just after 3 p.m.
According to Environment Canada, periods of snow are expected to begin late in the morning amounting to 2 cm.
Another 5 cm of snow is predicted overnight, alongside a low dipping down to -9C.
More flurries are expected for Wednesday, with a high of -8C.
Clear skies and sunny skies are expected from then on out. Although the snow will have stopped, it will remain chilly with highs of -6C, -9C and -10C, and lows down to -21C some nights—meaning the snow will stick around for the date of Santa’s arrival.
