A 39-year-old local man pled guilty Wednesday to mischief and criminal harassment directed toward an ex-girlfriend that lasted for months.

Sentencing for the man, who won’t be identified to protect the identity of the victim, has been adjourned to March 7 to ensure a presentencing report and risk assessment can be completed for consideration.

The couple had separated in March. According to the agreed statement of facts, earlier this year the man vandalized the bathroom of a fast food restaurant in Redcliff, writing messages calling his ex a whore, saying the woman’s new partner is “getting shanked” and also using the word “die” repeatedly.

Despite a court order to not be in contact with her, the man also sent her multiple texts, and in September made derogatory Facebook posts about her that included her contact info and encouraged individuals to contact her for the purpose of sex.

Then in October, police were called as 50 cards filled with derogatory statements about the woman and her boyfriend were dropped off at her house by him. The accused also had attended the woman’s workplace.

The man has been in custody, but Crown agreed to releasing him on $2,000 cash surety until sentencing.

Someone here really needs to grow up. After that, get some counseling. Then move on. It is small wonder the relationship didn’t last.
