With work still underway to prepare for a bail hearing, it was a brief court appearance Wednesday for a Winnipeg man arrested for two bank robberies in Medicine Hat, three in Regina and one in Saskatoon.
Counsel for Stephen Vogelsang, who celebrated his 54th birthday while in custody at the Medicine Hat Remand Centre on Tuesday, requested an adjournment to Nov. 30 for a possible bail hearing.
Vogelsang is accused of robbing two Medicine Hat banks on Oct. 19 and 20. In both cases, police report a man entered the banks, demanded money and then left with an undisclosed amount.
Following the arrest, Regina police announced they were laying additional charges against Vogelsang for three bank robberies that occurred there in July and October. Saskatoon police announced this week another robbery charge against Vogelsang for a robbery that occurred there on July 31.
Vogelsang’s arrest made national news, as the man is a former CTV Winnipeg news director and sports caster who also taught journalism at Red River College.
If granted bail in Alberta, Vogelsang would still remain in custody due to warrants for his arrest issued from Saskatchewan.
Voyeurism
A Medicine Hat man arrested Nov. 11 and facing voyeurism charges had his court matters adjourned to Dec. 20.
City police allege the 24-year-old man is linked to three similar incidents in March, May and August where a man was looking through bathroom windows at women. These incidents took place in the area of 13th Street SE.
As of this point Davis Eichendorf of Medicine Hat is charged with three counts of voyeurism and three counts of trespass by night.
