Medicine Hat News

Bail was denied Tuesday to a Medicine Hat man wanting to be out of jail for just two days before his sentencing for trafficking methamphetamine.

Travis McNab appeared by closed-circuit TV from the Medicine Hat Remand Centre, with duty counsel running a bail hearing for newly laid charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possessing property obtained by crime, possessing a controlled substance and two counts of breaching his release conditions.

These new charges follow a meth trafficking investigation by police that led to McNab’s arrest alongside another man’s on Nov. 9.

McNab was seeking release so he could say goodbye to family and make other arrangements before a Nov. 23 sentencing on two counts of trafficking meth — stemming from another undercover investigation.

Guilty pleas were entered March 3 to these charges, with a pre-sentencing report ordered.

This sentencing is set to take place on Nov. 23. The newer charges have been adjourned to Dec. 5.
