Information night Wednesday to discuss addictions

Medicine Hat News This is National Addictions Awareness Week, recognizing issues related to substance abuse and problem gambling. There is a parent information night in Medicine Hat on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Honor Currie Room at the Medicine Hat Public Library. It will be an opportunity to learn ways to talk to their children about drugs, including alcohol, tobacco (vaping) and cannabis. There are a number of ways to prevent substance abuse and one is supporting parents in modelling healthy behaviours, which includes talking with their children about alcohol and other drugs. Positive mental well-being can also protect against the development of an addiction or exacerbating it. 5-4
