Accused in home invasion, 37-year-old briefly in court

A 37-year-old Hatter charged in connection to a home invasion and assault made a brief court appearance Tuesday, adjourning his matters to Nov. 29.

The man was arrested Nov. 10 by city police after the execution of two search warrants in connection to an Oct. 28 home invasion on Southview Drive.

The incident resulted in serious injuries to the victim, who remains in hospital.

Darren George Brooks was charged with break and enter, aggravated assault, uttering threats, unauthorized possession of a firearm and unsafe storage of a firearm.

He remains in custody at the Medicine Hat Remand Centre and is in the process of seeking legal counsel.
