City starts installing festive lights next week

It will be looking a lot more like Christmas on major routes in the city starting on Tuesday.

That day city crews will begin installing festive lights on light standards on main roads throughout the city, depending on weather conditions.

The seasonal lighting will line a number of routes, including the downtown core, First Street SE, the Maple Avenue Bridge, Eighth Street NE., Division Avenue N., Kingsway Avenue and South Railway Street, Trans-Canada Way, Carry Drive, Dunmore Road and 13th Avenue SE.

Season Altawana path closed

The municipal works department advises that the pathway along the south side of Altawana Drive is now closed.

That path is not maintained during the winter months and pedestrians are advised to use the path on the north side of the road as an alternate route.
