A Winnipeg man arrested for two bank robberies in Medicine Hat, three in Regina and one in Saskatoon had a brief court appearance Thursday.

Counsel for 53-year-old Stephen Vogelsang is working to finalize an arrangement for a surety, the Medicine Hat Court heard, with an adjournment requested to Nov. 22 for a possible bail hearing.

If granted bail in Medicine Hat, Vogelsang would remain in custody due to warrants issued for him in Saskatchewan. At that point, Vogelsang would have to be transported there, for bail hearings at these locations.

The arrest of Vogelsang, a former CTV Winnipeg news director and sports caster who also taught journalism at Red River College, made national news after his October arrest in Medicine Hat.

He is accused of robbing two Medicine Hat banks on Oct. 19 and 20. In both cases, police report a man entered the banks, demanded money and then left with an undisclosed amount.

Following the arrest, Regina police announced they were laying additional charges against Vogelsang for three bank robberies that occurred there in July and October.

Saskatoon police announced this week another robbery charge against Vogelsang, for a robbery that occurred there on July 31.
