Winnipeg man’s bail hearing over bank robbery charges set for Nov. 9

A Winnipeg man arrested for two bank robberies in Medicine Hat and three others in Regina has a bail hearing lined up for Nov. 9.

Stephen Vogelsang appearedbefore court from the Medicine Hat Remand Centre Thursday, with Lethbridge-based lawyer Greg White officially coming on the record to represent the 53-year-old for the bail hearing only.

With disclosure now received by defence counsel, the bail hearing was set for Nov. 9.

The arrest of Vogelsang, a former CTV Winnipeg news director and sports caster who also taught journalism at Red River College, made national news after his October arrest in Medicine Hat.

Vogelsang is accused of robbing two Medicine Hat banks on Oct. 19 and 20. In both cases, police report a man entered the banks, demanded money, and then left with an undisclosed amount.

Following the arrest, Regina police announced they were laying additional charges against Vogelsang for three bank robberies that occurred there inJuly and October.
