Police looking for suspect after Saturday break and enter, assault

One man was sent to the hospital Saturday evening with serious, but not life-threatening injuries after a break and enter and assault at his residence.

A suspect entered a main floor apartment around 7:20 p.m. at 2399 Southview Drive SE, possibly through a broken window. Once inside the occupant was assaulted, receiving significant injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening at this time, according to a MHPS press release. The victim was transported to hospital by EMS

Police, with the assistance of a canine unit, searched the area but were unable to locate a suspect. It is currently the opinion of police that the victim was the specific target of this offence and that public safety is not at risk with relation to this matter.

S/Sgt. Mark Fentiman said the police believe the suspect to be a man, but added that police are looking into every possibility, and that the investigation in ongoing.
