One man in custody after Bridge Street fire

Fire crews and a fairly strong police presence responded Friday evening to a fire on the 1100 block of Bridge Street, where an adult female was injured. Police say they are investigating suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident. The damaged home sits next door to the Bridge Street house recently shut down by police due to drug-related activity.--NEWS PHOTO SCOTT SCHMIDT

One man is facing arson and aggravated assault charges after a Friday fire on Bridge Street.

Police, fire and emergency services responded to the 1100 block of Bridge Street after 6 p.m., and one woman was taken to the hospital with, “significant burns,” according to on-scene police.

The on-duty staff sergeant said Sunday that the investigation is still ongoing, and no more information will be released at this time, but did confirm the charges to the man.
