A portion of South Boundary Road is re-opened after long-awaited repairs got underway this fall.

The stretch of the major route along the city’s southern limits between South Ridge Drive and Range Road 61A had been closed since September as crews flattened portions of the wavy road, and slightly widened the two-lane road.

The city’s municipal works department said Monday that the road — the main route to the county hamlet of Desert Blume — is reopened to traffic with only ditch work remaining to be completed over the next few days.

The $1.65 million project was begun on Aug. 28. The budget includes a $250,000 donation from Cypress County.

Aecon Transportation West, based in Redcliff, was the contractor.
