The cost of home heating will rise as winter approaches, while the price of electricity essentially stands pat in the City of Medicine Hat for October.

Rates published on Monday show natural gas rate for residential and small- to -medium-commercial use will rise to $1.60 per gigajoule in October, up 25 cents from the previous month.

The power price falls two one-hundredths of a penny to 3.66-cents per kilowatts hour.

Epcor had the lowest power price, 3.45-cents, in both Fortis distribution areas and the Crowsnest pass., of four centres lower than Medicine Hat. Six centres have higher prices, including Enmax, in Calgary, at 3.852-cents.
