Wild Horse border crossing winter hours start Sunday

Medicine Hat News Hours of operations at the Wild Horse border crossing will fall back to winter hours Oct. 1, while preliminary figures suggest usage is up at the port of entry south of Medicine Hat. The Canada Border Services Agency informed travellers in a release Thursday that after this weekend, hours will be limited to between 8 a.m. an 5 p.m until April. The agency reports the Wild Horse crossing counted 17,000 travellers in 8,000 vehicles from May to the end of August. Comparable figures released in late 2016 stated the entire five-month summer period that year saw travellers number 16,707 in 7,021 cars, six buses and 397 commercial trucks. The CBSA also announced on Thursday that the Chief Mountain port, on Alberta Highway No. 6 in the foothills, will close for the season at 6 p.m. on Saturday. 7-6
