Medicine Hat News

With crews about to begin residential area construction of powerline upgrades in the south end of the city, an open house today will spell out the project to residents of South Ridge, Vista and Hamptons.

Lines on the south and southwest of town were scheduled to be upgraded, raised and restrung with greater capacity years ago, and last work proceeded south from the power plant to about South Boundary Road.

Now construction is about to proceed past the Cypress County hamlet of Desert Blume and into residential areas of Medicine Hat.

Officials will host a drop-in information session with residents today, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Church.

The two-month project will tie-in lines to the city’s substation on 13th Avenue.

It follows the same route as existing powerlines in the area and will be completed in stages over the next two months.
