If you or a loved one is dealing with a diagnosis of dementia you are invited to an informal gathering with others in the same position.

On Oct. 2, Nov. 6 and Dec. 4 at the Station Cafe on Second Street, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., the local chapter of the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories is hosting discussions.

There will be coffee and treats provided, live music and a different educational component each month.

“We are hoping to create a ‘dementia-friendly’ experience — a true cafe experience where a different action, word, or symptom of dementia will be understood and not stigmatized,” said Alariss Schmid, community relations for Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories-Medicine Hat. “Also, we hope that people can create new friendships for support and understanding of their experiences living with dementia.”
