Downtown paving could occur this weekend

Weather permitting, a good portion of a downtown road project could be repaved beginning this weekend.

Various stretches of South Railway Street where it edges the downtown core have been closed this summer as crews replaced underground pipes and water lines.

Officials said Friday that top lift paving on two blocks, from Second to Fourth streets, could begin on Sunday.

Motorists and pedestrians are asked to obey all posted signs and be aware of construction equipment.

Festival in Redcliff

Officials report 60 entries are confirmed for the Redcliff Fall Festival that begins on Saturday morning with a parade at 10:30 a.m.

A variety of events, competitions and displays will be staged in Memorial Park until 3:30 p.m.

A corn roast and beer gardens at the Redcliff Legion opens at 11:30 a.m. A noon to 5 p.m. trade show is at Parkside school and other events are planned to take place at River Valley Park, the Redcliff Museum, Redcliff Public Library. A tour or greenhouses will also take place.

The Lions Club and Servus Credit Union will host a showing of the movie “Hocus Pocus” in Lions Park at 8 p.m.
