Medicine Hat News One of the most important events on the cowboy calendar in southeastern Alberta is happening this weekend at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede grounds. The annual Memory Lane team roping competition goes Saturday and Sunday, with the spectacular ‘grand entry’ officially kicking things off at 12 noon today. The event is held in memory of cowboys who have passed away. Cowboys will be coming from miles around, including all three prairie provinces and from locations in the United States. Team roping for the men (starting at 9 a.m. both days) and barrel racing for the women (Saturday only, starting at 10 a.m.) are on the agenda, with buckles presented to the winners at the awards banquets both nights at 6:30 p.m. Wrapping things up on Monday will be a gigantic horse auction at the Stampede grounds, with viewing starting at 10 a.m. and the auction to follow. Event organizers are George Schreiner and Darwin Stuber. 9
