Man’s young dog taken when his car is stolen

Brad Kuich of Kelowna had his car stolen in Medicine Hat Tuesday, but he lost something he regards as much more valuable:

His nine-month-old pup, Belle, a black and white border collie.

Kuich, who owns land in the Oyen area and was in southern Alberta for business reasons, stopped at the Medicine Hat Mall to get a new phone but didn’t realize he had left a second set of keys to his car on the console. He said he realized his error after about 20 minutes and rushed out to the parking lot, only to find his car — and Belle — missing.

“The dog means everything to me,” said Kuich.

His insurance company was helping him get a rental vehicle, and a report was filed to the Medicine Hat Police Service, which hadn’t located the vehicle nor the dog by press time Wednesday.

Kuich said Belle has been spayed and has a microchip between her shoulder blades.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Belle, or the vehicle, should contact the Medicine Hat police at 403-529-8481.
