City police arrested two men Aug. 19, after locating a black BMW reported stolen in Calgary.

Police had been searching for the vehicle throughout the day, as they had received a report from Brooks RCMP that it had failed to pull over for them following an assault, as well as a report of gas theft in Medicine Hat.

The vehicle was found parked near the 600 block of Sixth Street SW, with the driver and passenger also arrested.

A search of the vehicle discovered stolen IDs and electronics, methamphetamine, heroin, marijuana and bear spray. Police believe most of the stolen items are from the Calgary area.

Benjamin Schneider, 31, of Medicine Hat is in custody and will appear in court today. David Paul Dyck, 47, of Calgary has been released on bail and will appear Sept. 5.

Both men have been charged with offences including possessing stolen property over $5,000, possessing a weapon, possessing break-in instruments, possessing stolen property under $5,000, and possessing a controlled substance.
