Prenatal workshop on healthy eating

Medicine Hat News

A workshop about healthy eating during pregnancy is being offered by Alberta Health Services.

The prenatal nutrition workshop is led by a registered dietitian and there is no charge to attend the two-hour workshop. It provides pregnant women with information about foods that meet prenatal requirements and can benefit the health of both mom and her developing baby.

During the group session, attendees will learn about prenatal multivitamin/mineral supplements, healthy pregnancy weight gain, food safety while pregnant, how much to eat and how to manage nausea, vomiting, constipation and heartburn.

These workshops are for all pregnant women, not just first-time mothers. Family members and friends can also attend. Child care is not available.

The workshop is offered monthly. The next session is Aug. 21 from 7-9 p.m. at Community Health Services, 2948 Dunmore Rd.

Call 403-502-8215 to register.
