A local photographer has decided to use her talents to help out a southeast-Alberta based dog rescue organization.
Jenn Galloway, owner of A Day in the Life Photography, is inviting Hatters and their pets down to the bandshell at Kin Coulee Park on Saturday from 9-11 a.m. to get a professionally-taken portrait of their pet taken for the cost of a $10 cash donation to Cleo’s Karma Canine Rescue. Galloway says the event is all about helping out the shelter.
“We’re going to be set up behind the bandshell at Kin Coulee and it’ll be a first-come, first-serve event,” she said. “We’re going to be doing pictures of just the dog, so people can get high-quality pictures and help out Cleo’s at the same time.”
Galloway says she understands that the shelter has many costs it needs help with, which is what prompted her to hold a fundraising event.
“I wanted to help because I know they have a lot of dogs that need things like dental care and other things like that,” she said. “They also permanently house dogs that are older and won’t get adopted out. So they have to pay for those dogs too. What it comes down to is that they need money to do this — they need help.”
At just a $10 fee, Galloway says she wanted to make the event affordable for as many people as possible.
Galloway says she adopted a dog from Cleo’s last year, and really appreciated the process the shelter uses during adoptions.
“We adopted out five-year-old dog Nox from Cleo’s,” she said. “I just thought the process was very good with Cleo’s. I really appreciated how thoughtful the people at the shelter were. They checked in on the first night to make sure everything was good. I just really liked how they did things.”
Galloway says all pets are welcome to attend the shoot,For more information on Cleo’s go to http://www.cleoskarmacaninerescue.com
