Guilty pleas were entered by a woman for charges that stem from a May 26 drug trafficking bust where police say $33,000 worth of methamphetamine was seized in Medicine Hat.

Siofean Coderre, 43, appeared in person before a judge at the Medicine Hat Courthouse to plead guilty to one count of trafficking, one count of possessing the proceeds of crimes, and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Coderre was arrested following an undercover operation by police where arrangements were made through texting and cell phone calls with a co-accused —Paul Rasmussen — to purchase meth.

Coderre was the driver of the vehicle that the undercover officer entered to make the drug purchases, and participated in the exchange. The first meeting included the purchase of 7.2 grams of meth for $320. A second meeting included purchasing 12 grams of meth for $500 — with the police funds then used at a local gas station to purchase gas. An ounce of meth was purchased for $900 at a third meeting, with police then making the arrests. In searching the vehicle, 291.57 grams — or 10.28 ounces — of meth was found.

Coderre was not sentenced on Tuesday, with defence counsel requesting a pre-sentencing report. Coderre has been in custody since the arrest, but was released on $1,000 cash bail until her sentencing.

Coderre’s co-accused also had an appearance Tuesday, with his lawyer coming off the record and his matter being adjourned until Aug. 1, as new counsel is retained.
