TransCanada Pipelines will be holding field training exercises at Echo Dale Regional Park on Thursday.

The boat launch area will be used for access to the South Saskatchewan River and the parking area used for equipment.

Activities will commence around 8 a.m. with boats and boom deployment boats, while the afternoon session will cover wildlife deterrence training , including firing of propane cannons that sound like shotgun blasts. Various other animal deterrence activities include kites, wavy men, floating scarecrows, predator effigies, predatory animal and call broadcasts. Activities will conclude by 4:30 p.m.

Signage will be posted in the areas and a liaison person will be available to answer any questions or concerns.

If the public wants to use the boat launch area during the morning session, they will be briefed on the activities and allowed access to the water in a safe and controlled manner.
