City natural gas rate down for July

City gas rates are down and electricity rates are up for the month of July.

The city utility department’s rate for natural gas in July has been set at $2.34 per gigajoule, down 61 cents from $2.95 in the month of June. The power price for July sits at 3.88 cents per kilowatt hour up from 3.16 cents last month.

Medicine Hat’s rates are set using the average price offered across the province.

The high gas rate in July is set by AltaGas Utilities at $2.90, while the low is Direct Energy Regulated Services at $1.82.

On the power side the high rate is 4.21 cents set by Direct Energy Regulated – Atco Electric Area with the low being 3.47 set by Epcor – Edmonton.
