The trial of a Brooks man charged with manslaughter over the death of his girlfriend will be held in Medicine Hat. The trial date will be set at the Court of Queen’s Bench on July 14. A preliminary hearing was held earlier in Brooks, although is under a publication ban. A multi-day trial was also planned, but Dyck has since re-elected to be tried before judge and jury, which will means the trial will be moved to Medicine Hat. Jessie Robert Dyck was originally charged arrested and charged with aggravated assault on Feb. 19, after what was described as a domestic violence incident at his Brooks residence. Police and paramedics were called to the home after a report of a woman suffering from severe injuries. Upon arrival they found Tanya Campbell-Losier, 19, who was transported to a Calgary hospital and later died. Dyck, who was 26 at the time of the incident, was then charged with manslaughter. Following his arrest, Dyck was granted bail on a $20,000 surety and $5,000 cash bail — and on strict release conditions, including maintaining an address in Saskatchewan, nightly curfew, surrendering his passport, abstaining from alcohol, and not being allowed to attend the city of Brooks with the exception of court appearances. 8
