According to Alberta Environment and Parks there were 1,250 animals killed at CFB Suffield in this year’s elk hunt, which ended on Jan. 28. This is about equal to last year’s total take, which killed just over 1,300, but about 700 animals below the target goal of 3,300 over the two seasons of the hunt. Alberta Environment and Parks is still compiling the numbers for the post-season wrap up, including total hunter attendance, success rate, and numbers killed for surrounding Wildlife Management Units, and will release further information in due course. 3
