Two men were stabbed and one was hit by non-lethal, police-issued bullets in three separate incidents on Saturday night.

One man was airlifted to Calgary with life threatening injuries after being beaten with a weapon in Strathcona Park.

“While we are not sure of much yet, this probably wasn’t a random attack,” said Insp. Brent Secondiak with the MHPS.

Police have described the injuries as serious and have closed off the park while MHPS and Search and Rescue personnel investigate the area.

Police say the victim has not been identified and they are still looking for possible suspects.

The second stabbing took place on the 0-100 block of 20th Street NE.

The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition, but has since been deemed stable, says Secondiak.

The last incident saw police responding to a house where a man allegedly had a handgun.

After 40 minutes of negotiating with the man, he would not reveal his hands to police, says Secondiak. Police then deployed an ARWEN, non-lethal bullet on the man.

Secondiak says he did not end up having a gun, is in the hospital and will be charged with resisting arrest.

Anyone with information related to these investigations is asked to call the MHPS at 403-529-8481 or provide at tip through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
