There likely won’t be anything off-limits when Roseanne Barr comes to Medicine Hat in the spring. The comedian, actress and author is coming to the Canalta Centre for a show on May 1, the first night of the Mad Hatter Comedy Festival. Barr began as a stand-up comedian in the 1980s, eventually landing a sitcom based around her life. “Roseanne” ran from 1988 to 1997 and won numerous awards. The show was rebooted in 2018 but cancelled after one season following a controversial Twitter post by Barr. The show was quickly revamped into a spinoff without Barr and called ‘The Conners.” Barr has been outspoken on political issues for the past number of years and ran a campaign for U.S. president in 2012. Tickets go on sale Friday at ticketmaster.ca, or in person at the Canalta Centre box office and the Medicine Hat Mall Canalta Centre kiosk. 6
