Busy times at the Esplanade

By Medicine Hat News on November 2, 2019.

There will be music, laughs, dance and more dance at the Esplanade next week.

The week starts with Christopher Hall bringing both the music and the laughs on Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Accompanied by a string quartet, Hall, on the clarinet, will make beautiful music. After each piece, Hall turns into a stand-up comic and, according to the Esplanade website, “makes fun of the musicians, the music and especially all of the rituals surrounding the performance of classical music we have grown to live with.”

For Hall it’s a way to remind everyone that classical music is for everyone, not just elites.

Music by Mozart, Brahms and Weber are on the program.

On Nov. 7 and 8, Backbone will slide in to the Esplanade.

Presented by the circus company Gravity & Other Myths.

“Backbone examines the various perceptions of what strength is, where it comes from and how it is measured. This frenetic celebration of human interconnectedness will test the limits of strength: physical, emotional, individual and collective,” reads the Esplanade website.

Shows are at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are available online at tixx.ca, by calling 403-502-8777, and in person at the Esplanade box office or the Medicine Hat Mall guest services desk.

These shows follow the sold-out Burton Cummings performance tonight.
