Blues at the Bow is celebrating 25 years tonight with the help of Chubby Carrier and Skinny’s Smoke House.

The group hosts a 25th on the 24th Anniversary Street Party beginning at 5:30 p.m. Skinny’s will supply the food for the street party and Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band will supply the tunes at the concert to follow.

Tickets for the party are sold out.

Carrier, called the world’s premier zydeco showman, has travelled the world with his band. They’ve performed at renowned festivals like the New Orleans Jazz Fest and the Chicago Blues Fest over the past 20 years.

In May, as Blues at the Bow began its 25th anniversary celebrations, president Grenner Veilleux said the music and the experience keeps people coming out to the small town.

“The amount of talent that comes through Bow Island is unbelievable,” he said then. “We’ve got really good sound and it’s a place you can go and hang out. Everyone’s the same; no one’s treated different. The bands usually come out during intermission to sign CDs and meet people. It’s kind of like a VIP package without having to be a VIP. I want everyone to come out and experience it. If you haven’t been here before give it a chance.”
