Veteran bluesman Terry Gillespie is coming to Medicine Hat to help raise money for HALO.

On Aug. 11, Gillespie will play a charity benefit dinner for the local medical rescue helicopter service at Liquid Concert & Event Venue.

Cocktails will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner — provided by TLC Farms — served an hour later. The concert will follow at 8:30.

Tickets are $85 with a $25 charitable tax receipt.

Area folks are likely familiar with Gillespie and his music, he having spent many years in Suffield. His fourth solo album, “Home Boy,” was just released this year. His music is described as blues and African fusion with a Caribbean vibe.

The fundraising concert also doubles as an introduction of sorts for the venue. Ownership has recently renovated the lounge portion of the venue to better accommodate blues, jazz and folk music shows. The main performance area remains for larger rock, metal and hip hop shows.
