There’s still time to cast your line and reel in a ticket or two to see The Northern Pikes at the Esplanade next week.

The Saskatoon rockers are out on their first full, cross-Canada tour in more than a decade, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the release of the band’s breakout album “Big Blue Sky.” The tour stops at the Esplanade Monday for an 8 p.m. show.

The band isn’t just celebrating the album — with hits like “Teenland” and “Things I Do For Money” — with a tour. A three-disc set has been released that includes the original album, a disc of all-new material from the group’s archive and a disc featuring the band live at the Horseshoe Tavern in 1986.

Founding member and guitarist Bryan Potvin says there’s a new energy around The Northern Pikes these days.

“There’s a youthful earnestness about what we’re doing right now, which is really peculiar for men who are ordering from the senior’s side of the menu at Denny’s,” Potvin states in the group’s bio.

Tickets, $35 plus service charges and GST, are available online at http://www.tixx.ca by calling 403-502-8777, and in person at the Esplanade box office or the Medicine Hat Mall customer service desk.

A wildly successful two-show stop in Medicine Hat one year ago pretty much guaranteed Abbamania would return. On Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m. it’s Abbamania and the Legends on the Esplanade stage.

The group that performed for the cast of “Mamma Mia!” is back with the hits “Waterloo” and “Dancing Queen” while Night Fever will perform the hits of the Bee Gees including “Stayin’ Alive” and “Jive Talking.”

If that’s not enough, special guests for the tribute show include Lady Gaga, David Bowie and Paul McCartney.

Tickets, $49 plus service charges and GST, are available online at http://www.tixx.ca by calling 403-502-8777, and in person at the Esplanade box office or the Medicine Hat Mall customer service desk.
