Local artists or bands could get big break from Sunrise Records contest

Undiscovered and emerging artists and bands in Medicine Hat might catch their big break this fall.

Sunrise Records, which opened in Medicine Hat Mall in the spring, is holding its inaugural Local Artist Contest.

Hopeful acts can enter online and if the entry is approved will go to the public voting stage, which ends Oct. 31. The top 10 finishers from that will be judged by a Sunrise panel to determine a grand prize and runner-up prize winner.

The grand prize winner will receive their music pressed on 500 LPs and 500 CDs, with nationwide distribution, a custom plaque, promotion on Sunrise channels, and more. The runner-up will get their music on 500 CDs with regional distribution and social media support.

The contest is part of Sunrise Records’ official grand opening celebrations this weekend, which includes giveaways, customer discounts and more.
