The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s 50th anniversary tour will stop at the Esplanade on Oct. 17.

The band’s most recent album is “Circlin’ Back: Celebrating 50 Years,” a live album on which the band teams up with artists such as Vince Gill, Rodney Crowell and Alison Krauss on some of the band’s most-loved songs.

With hits like “Fishin’ in the Dark” and “Mr. Bojangles” singalongs aplenty can be expected at the show, and maybe even some line dancing. Prior to the band’s show at the Esplanade in 2014, band member Bob Carpenter said “Cadillac Ranch” is a staple of Canadian shows and that Canada sort of invented line dancing to it.

“The line dancing thing to ‘Cadillac Ranch’ down here never really caught on. This is something very specific to Canada,” he said at the time.

Tickets, $59 plus service charge and GST,  go on sale May 26 and will be available at http://www.tixx.ca, by calling 403-502-8777 or in person at the Esplanade box office or the Medicine Hat Mall customer service desk.
