Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, March 26, 2025

Tickled Pink (And still laughing)

I read that the Canadian women ended up winning the silver medal after losing to Switzerland in the curling final this past weekend in Calgary. When asked for comment on this, Danielle Smith said we need another pipeline.

Tickled Pink

To remember the time when our groceries were packed and put in our carts and then carried out to our vehicle by a young person working an entry level job. What a treat that was, and I doubt we thought much of it at the time. Now look at us doing it all by ourselves. Good old days.

Tickled Pink

As my best friend retired from the Winnipeg police force says, “Everyone hates us till they need us.”

Tickled Pink

Enjoying the great bike paths, and not dealing with traffic. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

Ticked Off

Twice on one recent day we ended up behind a driver not proceeding when the light turned green. In each instance the driver was looking down at their device. Now I know horn honking is considered road rage, but how else do you get these distracted drivers’ attention? Police say they are concerned about driver trends these days and I believe cell phones are the culprit.

Ticked Off

Alberta should have the rite to pick the judges we want not some left leaning person who will make rulings from there woke world views.Same goes for the senate.

Ticked Off

Think of all the private sector that deals with people at city hall. Should be able to implement an administration fee of at least $300 to help with the extra costs dealing with city hall.

Ticked Off

It is hard to believe people think Facebook is private. If it’s on the internet, it’s not private.

Ticked Off

The $16 million monthly the UCP government is scraping off the backs of the poor (AISH) could fix a lot of affordable housing issues.

Ticked Off

I am so sick of Alberta’s UCP government. They seem to have been in power forever and have made many changes that they did not campaign on. We do not need a referendum in the fall, we need an election.

Ticked Off

Why does the Alberta government want a say in what judges are appointed to the courts? Do they want to appoint biased judges? The system we have now seems to have worked well. Having the province involved would not improve anything. Maybe make it worse.

Tickled Pink

Thrilled that Alberta is fighting back against the culture of death. The goalposts on MAiD keep widening. Pretty scary.

Tickled Pink

I am so pleased with the people at Home Care through Assisted Living. They are friendly, helpful and very good at their job. After my partner suffered a slight stroke the assistance of these professionals is very much appreciated.

Ticked Off

That MLA Justin Wright voted against Bill 206 that would have provided disabled Albertans access to buildings they now struggle to access. Wright, therefore, publicly signals his disrespect for disabled constituents in his riding as do 42 other UCP MLAs who voted down Bill 206. Shame on him.

Tickled Pink

Medicine Hat is so lucky that Premier Danielle Smith chose Medicine Hat/Brooks as her riding. Developing new and enhanced cardiac services and an urgent care centre, 18 new ICU beds in the Medicine Hat Hospital. Plus twinning Hwy 3. Thanks to Smith, southeast Alberta is no longer the forgotten corner.

Editor’s note: Some who submit to this column will contact the News wondering why their comment didn’t make the paper, or didn’t make it in full. Aside from the obvious reasons why we can’t publish certain comments, the No. 1 reason by far for something being passed over is length. If you have something to say that requires more than two short sentences, please do write a Letter to the Editor. But we have limits for this column for good reason, and not everything everyone sends is an automatic publish, even if it’s full of positivity.
