Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Feb. 12, 2026

Ticked Off

The Alberta advantage is clearly a myth. Highest unemployment in Canada, Smith’s own riding has the highest unemployment in Alberta. Nice work.

Tickled Pink

International Epilepsy Day was Monday, Feb. 9. It helps the public learn what epilepsy is, dispel myths and better understand the challenges faced by 50 million people worldwide living with epilepsy. The goal is to build awareness that leads to empathy, inclusion and action. Our son has intractable epilepsy due to tuberous sclerosis complex, a rare disease.

Ticked Off

After writing a letter of concern to Medicine Hat College regarding renting Rebel News and the Alberta separatists a space at the college. Please write or phone, too.

Tickled Pink

We have the best stroke/heart rehab team! It is truly amazing what this team does and how beneficial it is for recovery. Our thanks to the whole team for the help they gave my husband after his stroke. Seven weeks after his stroke he is 80% recovered. We are very fortunate to live in Medicine Hat!

Ticked Off

At loud music in stores. Music is supposed to be soothing to encourage you to buy. Also it is not good for the clerks to be bombarded all day with the music even if they like that kind of music. It would tend to cause tension and irritability.

Tickled Pink

A super sized thank-you to the 911 operator, the medic who came to start care for our Dad, to the paramedics who came to transport him to emergency, to the nurses and doctors in emergency, to the doctor and all nurses including all in training on 5-East. We also have a very, very clean hospital! Cannot say enough of the fantastic care from start to finish, thank you!

Ticked Off

I hope meeting in Brooks with Smith was open to all, not a stacked house with all her cronies who can’t think for themselves.

Ticked Off

Smith needs to go. If her lips are moving, she’s lying to Albertans.

Ticked Off

It so sad the number of packages I see delivered to those who shop on line. Every one of those purchases has an impact on local stores and employees. As a community we need these stores and jobs. Let’s support them, even if we have to pay a little more, before downtown shopping strips and the mall become vacant.

Tickled Pink

Stéphane Dion’s use of the word “dismemberment” to describe Alberta separating from Canada is perfect. A limb does not survive, nor will an independent Alberta.

Ticked Off

I just have one word for those pushing for Alberta to separate – wingnuts.

Ticked Off

Everyone is complaining about our health care as if it is a uniquely Albertan problem. Tell me which province is crushing it? Which one has the model to follow? Which one doesn’t have long wait times? And we’re not the only province to have had someone die waiting in the ER. So why is this specifically our government’s fault?

Tickled Pink

I would be if everyone who says they want Danielle Smith recalled would sign the petition to do so. It’s available at a local bakery and only takes a few minutes to do so!

Tickled Pink

If the Medicine Hat College board of governors reflects on their commitment to honour First Nations People, who have very clearly opposed the Alberta Independence Tour’s separation mandate, and cancel their event at the college on Feb. 27.

Ticked Off

When did it become your civic duty to insist an event I’d like to attend, as an adult among adults, be cancelled?

Ticked Off

That Rebel News is able to host an independence event at our College. How does this even happen? Rebel News is the worst of the worst and they can get into the college. So absolutely disappointed.

Tickled Pink

If this Independence Tour at the college would actually tell these people how Alberta would survive if they separate. Who in their right mind would think we could actually make it on our own? This small minority is far from being anywhere smart.

Ticked Off

If the separatists’ message still fits within the guidelines of what the MH College finds acceptable I can’t imagine what wouldn’t fit within what’s acceptable. Maybe they haven’t heard their message yet, and if not, perhaps they should before they agree to let them spread their ill conceived propaganda to young very impressionable students.

Ticked Off

What is the college thinking? The almighty dollar raises its head and wins over. Can’t tell me the college board is not supporting the case for separatism. This will surely affect next year’s college enrolment – it certainly should!.Lethbridge cinema pulled out and so should you.

Ticked Off

And disgusted that MHC would host the Rebel group giving it a slight edge of normal. It isn’t – hey use our hard won freedoms to rage about their personal rights to overrun others’ freedom or ability to share beliefs. No, MHC is not a venue for this. Lethbridge saw this & the risk of ‘disturbances’ causing possible harm to their employees. This is a no-brainer – rescind that invite, please.

Ticked Off

Obviously people opposing the college hosting an Alberta Independence Tour event don’t believe in free speech. Shame on you.

Ticked Off

Despite the Saamis Solar project having no effect on taxes, and no effect on electricity rates, the MHURA is still staunchly opposed to it. It’s almost like the MHURA doesn’t really care about utility ratepayers at all, and is actually just a group of right-wing agitators whose only goal is to push their agenda and spread ignorant culture war nonsense about renewables. Almost.

Ticked Off

Today I authorized my lawyer to add a codicil to my will dropping Medicine Hat College as a recipient of monies. Hosting the Alberta Independence Tour and involving Tamara Lich is reprehensible.

Ticked Off

That it is legal for an employer to require I have a cellphone and instal a work app on it.

Ticked Off

Here is a thought for folks who do not want separation in Alberta. Then rent your own room and provide your side of the story instead of shutting down conversations you do not agree with.

Ticked Off

That Premier Smith wants her own police force, Does anyone besides me see similarities between her, Trump and Minnesota? If you don’t, I have some ocean front property along Dunmore Road for sale.

Tickled Pink

I can remember a time, not so long ago, when Medicine Hat College was a vibrant community hub, filled with critical thought, mind-expanding ideas, speakers, authors, music and theatre. MHC now feels like a cavernous vacuum, devoid of life, activity and vibrancy. Pandering to the corporate agenda, elitism and to the highest bidder — very sad and unfortunate times.

Ticked Off

I am amazed Premier Smith thinks because you are elected you suddenly become smarter and more knowledgeable than people who have gone to school and trained for years. For example, judges and doctors.
