Ticked Off At the complacency exhibited in our community concerning a gun being fired at an on-duty police officer in a Southeast Hill apartment building. Ticked Off My Christmas candy on a stick says “marshmallow.” Health Canada stuck warning sticker “high in sugar.” The first ingredient is “sugar.” Really? Are we not teaching basic nutrition in school? People don’t know marshmallows are primarily made from sugar, corn syrup and gelatin? At least it is meat free. Ticked Off Why would you not put the leading scoring defenceman in the WHL on team Canada? I know in my heart of hearts Pickford would’ve made a difference in winning that gold medal, but what can you do? Tickled Pink Hindsight is 20-20. I am proud of the boys for getting at least a bronze. Tickled Pink Very impressed with Five Guys burgers, food was good, the establishment was very clean. Hats off to you, I will be back. Tickled Pink Pleased with recent pickup of Stecher to Maple Leafs! Tickled Pink That the mayor’s legal fees will be on her tab this time. Tickled Pink To our MLA whose had recent position changes. You can run but you can’t hide from being recalled. Ticked Off That gas prices in Medicine Hat have not dropped as much as they should have, or as much as other cities in the province as well. But people should be aware that it is not the local stations that set the price, it is the oil companies that tell the local stations what price to sell the gas at. (Editor’s note: Just so we are a crystal clear here: No. Oil companies absolutely do not tell local gas stations what to charge. No disrespect meant, but whoever told you this owes you an apology.) Tickled Pink I really like shopping local. What I love about local stores is going there to find jeans, tops that aren’t in another store, big box or otherwise. Medicine Hat is just too small to duplicate brands. Ticked Off By people who seem to think not getting the flu vaccine, as well as other vaccinations, is making some grand statement for freedom and now has resulted in spikes of illnesses that had long been all but eradicated, and a flu season that has seen above average cases and is straining a health-care system that is already unable to keep up. Ticked Off We’re told over and over that this year’s flu shot is not a match. Then the next sentence is to make sure you get the flu shot. Make it make sense. Big pharma is not suffering. (Editor’s note: Even though the vaccine this year is not a perfect match, experts (even those outside big pharma) still recommend getting the vaccine. This is not an uncommon thing, the vaccine has to be recreated every single year and it’s not an exact science. But even in years where the match wasn’t as strong as others, the vaccinated community still suffered from symptoms far less than the unvaccinated community. Because some protection is always better than no protection. Make sense?) Ticked Off With the Harlow rezoning. There are zones for a reason. So people can plan. They put sweat and money in to build a home counting on the “plan.” A bunch of short-term elected officials should not, must not, change plans willy-nilly. I’m not in Harlow but I’m in this house 25 years. If you changed the zoning of our neighbourhood it would be devastating. Ticked Off At the folks whining about two-storey and multi-unit development in front of council. You got your concessions already, why take up two hours of a meeting just to re-hash the past? We need density and development in this town, and you NIMBYs are standing in the way of progress. Tickled Pink It really doesn’t matter how much money you have, it is how you conduct yourself. Tickled Pink I don’t mind closing two schools for cost effectiveness. Just as long as they don’t pull the fire hall shuffle and tear down two and build three new ones. Tickled Pink Very funny that a hard core left winger is brazen enough to give the Conservatives advice on who should or should not lead the party. Tickled Pink To find out who is behind these 26 ridiculous recall petitions. Recall is for politicians not showing up to work. It is not for when you don’t like how they vote. That is what elections are for. This is a hugely selfish endeavour and a huge taxpayer expense. (Editor’s note: Good news, the answer to your question is publicly available information that has been extensively covered by numerous media outlets across the province.) Ticked Off Planet Earth is eyeball to eyeball with World War Three. Ticked Off I just don’t get it? Teachers say their classrooms are to full and yet two schools are closing? I thought in their negotiations this was one of their major concerns. I guess not now. (Editor’s note: Get this – what if I told you there are other communities in Alberta and that they also have schools?) 41
