Ticked Off I don’t mind them closing two schools that aren’t needed. But don’t attempt to build new schools in the next few years if that’s the case. I don’t mind them closing two schools that aren’t needed. Ticked Off The politician recall process is for getting rid of the MLA who has missed 170 sittings in a row and never returned phone calls. It is not for attempting to remove the hard working premier because you don’t agree with her politics. That’s just childish sour grapes. You don’t like her you deal with it at the next election, not by abusing a special safety procedure. Ticked Off Not happy with all this sharing of my health data. I was fine with it in a file in a doctor’s office but now multiple departments, companies, contractors and motor vehicles? You know they’ll abuse that access. Can I opt out and still get treated? Can I not say no to collecting and sharing my data? Tickled Pink I’m glad a recall for Smith is approved. Time to show her to the door, Alberta. Ticked Off With the comment about the MH News survey reliability. The truth is most Hatters are conservative and vote UCP, but very few conservatives read the Medicine Hat News. Ticked Off At the comment from Thursday’s TOTP about layoffs at Algoma Steel, somehow blaming it on the Liberals. Wait, so now Conservatives support workers rights and oppose management positions getting millions of dollars of bonuses? It seems like just yesterday this column was full of conservatives lamenting about how much they hate unions. Ticked Off The current ludicrous recall of elected members of the Alberta legislature is an attack on democracy. The people have spoken in the last legitimate election. You radicals should be told in no uncertain terms to live with that until the next election. (Editor’s note: It’s almost as if the province regrets installing a Recall Act.) Ticked Off Have to wonder if all the people who sign a recall petition actually voted in the election. Ticked Off Why are Medicine Hat elected officials still allowing taxes to increase annually at 5.6% when Calgary just chopped the requested 3.6% increase down to 1.64%? We are not building a subway, folks. New elected council take notice and make the hard choices expected of you. Ticked Off As pointed out in the “Old News” section, the government still depends on a shooting 36 years ago to dictate gun laws now. We obviously do not have a gun problem. Ticked Off That people think the only option is to vote is NDP. Ottawa will take everything from Alberta and we will be left with nothing. For all of you that think health care and education is so important, that will be worse then ever. NDP and Liberals dislike the oil industry even though that’s what keeps Alberta and Canada going. Wake up, people. Ticked Off Does it seem right the school board wants to close a school with a major apartment building going up two blocks away? I don’t think the school division is planning ahead. Ticked Off The twinning of Highway 3 from Taber to Burdett was promised by former premier Kenney. I believe Ms. Smith committed to completing the task in her first term; not really a fail for me as I didn’t believe it at the time. I had voted Wildrose in the past because of the MLA’s promises. Ticked Off Hope everyone is paying attention to Trump’s willingness to invade countries he believes responsible for America’s drug problem. Ticked Off I have looked forward to reading TOTP for many years, but I am getting tired of the anti-UCP comments. During the recent city election, someone with no profile created a forum to generate negative commentary. There must be a collective effort to submit so many negative comments. Tickled Pink I am thrilled people in Medicine Hat are finally realizing Danielle Smith is not good for Albertans, and the recall process has begun. We need to protect our Albertan values, and not get distracted by the fringe, extreme separatists she is pandering to. She has done nothing to improve the lives of ordinary, hard-working Albertans. Ticked Off If you aren’t paying for my electricity, then you don’t have the right to tell me how and when to use it. If I want to have my Christmas lights on 24/7 I will. Too bad for you. No Scrooge or Grinch is going to spoil my Christmas. Ticked Off Smith’s attack on AISH recipients is cruel and unwarranted. She is already stealing over $180 million a year from people with disabilities from clawing back the federal disability grant of $200 per person. How will over 70,000 people be assessed medically? How will they pay the fee? What of the thousands who don’t have a doctor? How low are you willing to go to fund your buddies? Tickled Pink Absolutely love the Christmas light display at Park Meadows Estates. Special thanks to all the volunteers who work so hard putting this together each year. We love visiting each year as it is one of our highlights at Christmas time. Also, all donations are shared with the food bank. Keep up the good work and we encourage everyone to go see this as it is open to the public. Ticked Off I have concerns about these recalls as those of us who took the time to vote may now be overridden by people who may never have voted in the first place. I hate the fact that this will cost us money that could be better spent elsewhere. This is getting totally out of hand. Ticked Off It would be real educational if you could get the city to explain why so many development permits in today’s paper (Dec. 6) were refused. Tickled Pink I’ll be so tickled if all the recall petitions are successful. It’s time politicians represent their constituents, not their party and its donors’ interests. Tickled Pink That Trump and Smith are shocked at the drop in their popularity. The electorate does not like the direction you are leading them into. Please take note and change. Tickled Pink As a senior I appreciate the kind neighbours who clean the sidewalk in front of my house. Was on Seventh Street by Medicine Hat High School, every car was doing 50-plus by the school. What’s with drivers in this city? The speed limit is 30 during the day. Ticked Off Alberta lawyers currently must take Indigenous education course, but now the province is going to limit education and training that probably will prevent lawyers from getting that course. Ticked Off So under Bill 14, authority over citizen initiative petitions is transferred from the chief electoral officer, an independent non-partisan officer who is required to have no political affiliation, to the Minister of Justice, aka the UCP themselves. Kind of sounds like a conflict of interest to me. Ticked Off Canada will never become an energy superpower as long as we have provinces blocking foreign and domestic investment in our country. Only Tickled Pinks for Christmas In keeping with annual tradition, the News is making a small change to how the Ticked Off and Tickled Pink section is managed for the Holiday Season. Starting today, the News will only run Tickled Pink entries within the section. This will continue through December, until the New Year, when the section will resume its usual operations. Readers are encouraged to submit thoughtful tickled pink comments to facilitate spreading cheer throughout the season. 60
