Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Dec. 2, 2025

Ticked Off

Since most big chain stores have their head offices in the East they really don’t care about the West. Remember Kmart? Ours was one of the top 10 stores in Canada but the Bay still closed it.

Tickled Pink

With Mark Carney and his “who cares” remark. I suppose he’s as sick of Trump’s childish tantrums, as we are. Also, thanks to him for his wisdom in appeasing Smith and her pipeline demands. Maybe now she’ll lay off her separation threats. Recalling is not going to do anything but voting in the next election will. We’re stuck with the UCP for now.

Tickled Pink

To know if and what the cost savings would be if the city went to garbage and recycling pickup every two weeks.

Ticked Off

It is unbelievably frightening that our premier will fight a federal buy-back offer on guns to satisfy her right-wing UCP supporters, people who cannot see any good coming out of Ottawa, including new pipelines to the West Coast. These are the people directing the future of this province and citizens. We need a better government.

Tickled Pink

The Santa Claus Fund volunteer team does an amazing job.

Tickled Pink

That I’m married to one fantastic woman! She knows when I need a hug, and when to punch my shoulder to “smarten up!” We have lots of fun together, but the best is when we sit together on the couch watching a movie. I’m one lucky guy! But don’t tell her that, I want to keep it a secret.

Tickled Pink

If residents took a few moments to think about the cost of running our city and keeping it attractive so people just might want to move here (more population = increased tax revenue). We can’t go on having our cake and eating it too. If it takes a 5%, 6% or 7% tax increase to continue being the place we enjoy living, so be it. Or, continue using the reserve fund to keep required increases low and deplete it entirely.

Ticked Off

I don’t think Carney saying “who cares” about a deal with the U.S. is “sick.” I think the things Trump and MAGA are doing are sick. “The U.S. is our biggest ally and trading partner” – then they should act like it. It’s not up to Carney to grovel at Trump’s feet. The world is a big place and it’s in our best interest to focus on other allies and trading partners.

Ticked Off

The Liberal MOU with Alberta is a total waste of paper. The insane continuation of the net-zero agenda will ensure no oil pipeline will be economically viable, and the new carbon taxes will only further increase prices on everything.

Ticked Off

With pedestrian bulges downtown. Before when people stood chatting on a corner they were far away from traffic so when they stopped and suddenly stepped off the sidewalk you’d have time to react. Now the circles put them right in traffic, and when they step off you have no time.

Tickled Pink

Amused by the person who said the Liberals should be in jail for potentially messing with the pensions, and then asking if leftists are waking up? Perhaps you haven’t been paying attention but Premier Smith wants to mess with pensions. Are you waking up now, right wingers?

Ticked Off

The twinning of Highway 3 got put off a few times but in spite of starting later than announced, we were assured it would be completed by 2025. Well it’s almost 2026 and it’s still not done. (Editor’s note: The projected completion of the section between Burdett and Taber is actually fall 2026.)

Ticked Off

Ridiculous LaGrange, needing to renew health-care card. And it’s not going to cost anything? I’ve got some ocean front property in Saskatchewan for you.

Tickled Pink

Pleased to hear our city councillors are asking the staffers to tighten the budget. Good direction, clear communication. Strong leadership qualities.

Ticked Off

Alberta’s premier = Trump light.

Tickled Pink

That once Smith and Carney signed the MOU on a pipeline, the minority separatist were in utter disbelief at being dismissed by her willing compliance to remain within Canada. All she ever wanted was her pipeline; now she got it from our Canadian Liberal PM.

Ticked Off

The very same Recall Act the UCP implemented now challenges 14 of their own caucus. So rather than address those petitions, the UCP response is to possibly change their Recall Act? What a bunch of cowardly self-serving bullies governing against the majority’s will.

Ticked Off

Alberta elected the UCP. They didn’t deserve another chance to govern and they are demonstrating they are completely out of touch with Albertans. Smith is tone deaf, the hypocrisy and the bullying are totally out of control. They attack transgender people, they attack AISH recipients, they attack public health care. Now they are considering repealing the law they made to allow Albertans to deal with politicians like them, they are complete hypocrites.

Ticked Off

Calcium chloride is known to damage old concrete, which explains the crumbling driveway where I park dripping road juice. A little head’s up warning would have been nice. I’d have parked on streets. (Editor’s note: In fairness, it was most definitely made known to the public when they began this process 15 years ago. The News did a story last week because people were falsely claiming it to be a new process. It’s also not done very often at all, so there might be a couple other factors involved in whatever is going on with your driveway.)

Tickled Pink

Thank you for the story on brining the roads. You’ve covered it before and it was worth repeating. Way to dig.

Ticked Off

That Brian Jean, Alberta’s Minister of Energy and Minerals, stated that metallurgic coal is a critical mineral. Coal is not a mineral. What education does Mr. Jean have to make a ridiculous statement like this?

Ticked Off

At a certain college coach. The way they treat players is unprofessional. After years of attending games I won’t be going anymore.

Ticked Off

People must have money to burn leaving their Christmas lights on all night. Shut them off at 10 p.m. Deer are the only creatures out all night.

Tickled Pink

If Justin Wright would state publicly if he is in support of Alberta separation. His constituents have the right to know.
