Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Nov. 13, 2025

Ticked Off

That the UCP government has created four health agencies, each with its own bureaucracy and four ministers of health but then found it needed to create another agency to “co-ordinate common areas.”

Ticked Off

That Alberta is disproportionate by population and still responsible for nearly 2,000 of the 5,000 cases of measles in all of Canada. What a disgrace.

Ticked Off

Two proven, effective vaccinations that had prevented measles and its spread has succumbed to apathy or false facts that’s caused Alberta to have the highest per capita cases in North America and nearly 40% within Canada. No Alberta Advantage but Alberta Disadvantaged by a provincial government blind to address this very real issue.

Ticked Off

Gone is Canada’s status of measles free since 1998. Failed due to individual choices versus for the common good. Selfish, entitled who really don’t fully understand the ramifications due to focusing solely on “I” not “we”. One example of a failed health-care system.

Ticked Off

It’s disappointing to hear of the upcoming closure of the medical clinic in Crescent Heights. Premier Smith and MH MLAs, get with it. You’re a sorry example of politicians wasting Albertans’ time and money.

Tickled Pink

The presentation from admin to council on the budget process was super informative. We really liked how they hammered home how expensive a southside recreation centre would be. We live in South Ridge and while we would benefit from it, we really don’t want it because of the costs. Hopefully council learned the lesson.

Ticked Off

Alberta has the lowest minimum wage in Canada, ostensibly to increase employment, except Alberta has the highest unemployment rate outside Atlantic Canada. The excuse that keeping the working poor poorer somehow helps them, gets flimsier ever year.

Tickled Pink

Our premier wants to raise the speed limit on divided highways. I have driven from Sweet Grass, Mont. to Los Angeles on the I15 a few times which has speed limit of 80 mph (approximately 128 km/h). I witnessed no more accidents than if the speed limit was 60 mph (110 km/h). So, yes, I am in favour of higher speed limit.

Ticked Off

Not necessarily ticked, just bewildered. Why would the UCP government be considering increasing highway speed to 120 km/h, people already do that. With the increase they would go 130 km/h. This government has bigger fish to fry than setting speed limit increases.

Tickled Pink

Really pleased with the Remembrance Day coverage and particularly the Lest We Forget segment. Well done, Medicine Hat News!

Tickled Pink

I reported some dead trees in the hospital area of the city. My compliments and thanks to the city parks workers who have now diligently removed these trees.

Ticked Off

Another $95-million coal mine settlement, after $142 million earlier? Sheesh.

Ticked Off

The oil companies are stealing our wealth. Pumping more oil to make them richer is not the answer. Increase the royalty and all our debt problems would go away.

Ticked Off

In usual liberal fashion, Mark Carney tries to use distraction to fool his supporters and everyone else, too. He would rather talk about a floor crosser than focus on his budget that will double the deficit. Look over here at drama, not over there where truth and reality exist.

Ticked Off

Maybe if we over paid teachers and under paid politicians we would have more smart people and fewer stupid laws. This UCP government is failing Albertans. I’m appalled at their shameful actions and abuse of power. I hope citizens in this area are starting to realize that we do not need or want radical extremism.

Tickled Pink

Totally impressed by the fantastic turn out at the Remembrance Day ceremonies at the Cenotaph but was quite disappointed in the sound system setup as only snippets of the announcements could be heard.

Ticked Off

I don’t blame the government for Alberta’s low measles vaccine rate. I blame the citizens who lap up non-factual information on social media like a kitten lapping up cream.

Ticked Off

How out of touch do you have to be to think all teachers in our province are “a generation of lazy people who don’t know how to work”. It baffles me how people can have zero empathy, zero compassion, for the people dedicating their lives to teach our children. “The new generation is just lazy!” has never been true. Not in the 1800s (yes, people even back then had this thought), and not now.

Ticked Off

So let me get this straight. The UCP axed the STEP program in 2013 and then again in 2019, driving down youth employment in the province, and now they are refusing to increase the minimum wage because youth unemployment is so high? Great. Add that to the list of ways the UCP has screwed us all over.

Ticked Off

The Nova Scotia MP crossed the floor. Voters who voted him did not vote Liberal. No politician should be able to “cross the floor,” rather, resign. They represent their voters, not their own agenda. Our MP does nothing for our riding, no need to cross the floor, just resign.
