Ticked Off Carney was doing a poor enough job on his own with trade negotiations with the U.S. He didn’t need that buffoon, wannabe liberal Doug Ford’s help to sabotage things further. Ticked Off The government is claiming the teacher strike was too damaging to students. A few weeks off school was difficult for students, parents and teachers. But continual overcrowding and inadequate human resources over years and years has reduced the quality of education that can be offered in our schools. Ticked Off If the Blue Jays win the world series, will Trump add another 10 per cent to tariffs? Tickled Pink That the UCP government is standing up for the taxpayers of Alberta. Giving a 30 per cent raise to teachers will not fix the problem. It’s time to fix both healthcare and education buy getting to the root of the problem. More and more money doesn’t fix the problem, as we have seen for many years. Ticked Off My MLA Justin Wright voted in favour of a cowardly bill to take away the constitutional rights of teachers to collective bargaining. The government had no intention to bargain in good faith and rammed this bill through the legislature. Mr. Wright blindly toes the party line and does little for his constituents, which include teachers, parents and students. Ticked Off It seems so many people are upset with local MLA Wright and Smith, but all will be forgotten next election, then once again the UCP will be elected. Follow up with your criticism when you vote. Ticked Off With UCP’s handling of teacher strike, including bad-faith bargaining and back-to-work legislation. If the people who look after our kids for eight hours a day, and are responsible to teach them basic life, math and communication skills aren’t worth it, who is? Ticked Off If more residents had exercised their right (and duty) to vote, there may have been a different outcome, particularly in the top job. Ticked Off If you didn’t vote then don’t complain about who got elected. You had the opportunity to speak by voting. Tickled Pink Looking forward to your continued digging into the election day fiasco. Why did it take so long to check in and receive a ballot? After years of speedy voting, why did the city drop the ball? And don’t blame the province, the rules were out in plenty of time. Tickled Pink That Trump is butt-hurt by a TV ad. The most powerful person on the planet? Please. It’s like living next to a petulant teenager. Tickled Pink The Forever Canadian campaign was a success. A bright bit of encouragement following an unprecedented low in Alberta with the notwithstanding tactics. Ticked Off Premier Smith ordering teachers back to work is not acceptable. Typical of Smith, never solving the problem. Ticked Off The legislature only meets twice a year, for a couple weeks at a time, and our premier can’t even be bothered to show up. With the teachers strike ongoing, she chose to be wined and dined in Saudi Arabia rather than do her job. Ticked Off Perhaps it’s time for a personal notwithstanding clause, where individuals could just ignore laws at their choosing. Tickled Pink The Medicine Hat Musical Theatre’s latest production of the Rocky Horror Show was fantastic. What a great crew and cast. We love you, Frank! Ticked Off All lefty talking points on TOTP. Educate yourself why we have to pay coal companies, or just ask the NDP. Tickled Pink A few years ago the News covered a serious issue that had been uncovered involving a family member. That article was read in a coffee shop in Calgary and eventually led to a successful conclusion. The printed story became part of the legal record establishing the rights of the family member. I appreciate the contribution that the News made to this situation. Ticked Off If Smith wanted hand-counted ballots because they’re more accurate why is it that after the recount of the Calgary mayor his victory margin increases from 581 to 616 votes. This just goes to show this method does not work. Tickled Pink After reading in today’s edition that the Clarion Pointe is offering suites for rent. The price seems very reasonable. We hope the qualification process isn’t too stringent and that some deserving people are able to find monthly rental homes there. Tickled Pink Very content to feel confident in returning to paper hand ballots for elections. Again, it’s not all about Donald Trump for anyone conscious before 2016. George Bush and the Florida debacle, for one instance. Tickled Pink That we still have a viable and reliable local newspaper. Thanks for the interesting history review, and congrats on 140 years! Tickled Pink Congratulations, Medicine Hat News! A unique accomplishment. Name another local business that is 140 years old! Wow. Ticked Off Did I hear it right? Did Danielle Smith go to the Middle East to sell oil? What’s next? Going to Nunavut to sell ice? Tickled Pink A leaf blower is my best purchase ever. When my neighbour is a work, I blow all my leaves on her lawn. Ticked Off Once again Glen Motz is reporting on federal matters for which he lacks the “financial literacy,” not the average Canadian. Endorsing such a statement while assuming the average Canadian is neither politically astute nor capable of grasping the myriad issues in today’s world is blatantly insulting. Ticked Off Glad to see that 62% disagreed with the province’s use of the notwithstanding clause to force teachers back to work (but meanwhile the premier is in Saudi Arabia using taxpayer money). 55
