Ticked Off At people not respecting neighbourhood parking and hosting loud parties with music blasting. Honestly, no one here wants to hear it. Ticked Off To see the councillor who caused most of the issues that distracted the mayor and council over the last two-plus years is running for council again. Tickled Pink To see Mayor Clark is running for again. She may not be perfect but is far better than the others running. Most of what happened this past term was clearly not her fault and it took focus away from running the city. Tickled Pink That I don’t need election candidates information put up on the city website, as all the information is readily available online and easy to find. Tickled Pink The city flower baskets downtown have been beautiful all summer long. Also the city flowers throughout the city are also gorgeous. We’re so lucky. Thanks, City of Medicine Hat. Tickled Pink Spending my money directly at greenhouses has made my money go further as the produce lasts a lot longer than from the store, thus less waste. Ticked Off That former councillors are running to get their old seats back. The solution to our current problems is not to bring back the older ones. Tickled Pink With a former councillor now running for mayor. He was very highly respected during his term and always put in the work understanding and explaining the issues of the day. Coupled with his time serving with the military, where he would have been honing his leadership skills, he’s an ideal candidate for mayor. Tickled Pink If all those discontented separatists would read the article with Jason Kenney in Tuesday’s newspaper. Every word is exact truth. Ticked Off The Alberta government’s publicly funded private health clinics are trash. It is unbelievable that we are paying for them to make patients miserable and provide nothing that resembles care. Ticked Off The Alberta government promised to reduce “red tape” for everyone and now they push to have Canadian citizenship on licences/IDs, which will result in more “red tape” for many. Ticked Off The premier is offering lots more money and thousands more teachers. I believe the ATA was thinking strike from day one. Tickled Pink If the city goes ahead with the new campground and new leisure park. Both are great ideas to enhance our city. Ticked Off Alberta would have money for health care and education if the UCP would only cut the top fat off. No, the UCP would rather give out more candy to their buddies who poorly run health care and education. The rich get richer. Ticked Off To hear of anyone wanting chickens in their backyard. I came from the farm and they are messy, smelly and absolutely annoying pecking sound all the time. They are never quiet. I’m sure we need them getting out of yards and causing issues. (Editor’s note: With all due respect, as your opinion is valid, but surely we can agree that a few hens in a yard is not the same as a chicken farm.) Ticked Off Our mayor was rude to the city manager. Does that make her a bad mayor? She has my vote. You can’t always be polite to get things done. Tickled Pink If this government would take a 20% roll back in their wages. Wonder if they would be able to survive with the current inflation rate then. Tickled Pink While the UCP government is modifying provincial ID cards, could they add the letters UNCAN (Uncanadian) for those Albertans who want to separate from Canada? A little black cowboy hat could be an option, too. Tickled Pink Any separatists running for council or mayor won’t be on my list. Ticked Off That a city councillor will now be making over $60K/annum for a part-time job that requires no accreditation or experience. Are we getting our money’s worth? Ticked Off I wrote to my MLA some time ago expressing my concerns with his government’s policies for the disabled, receiving no reply. Yet Justin Wright seems to have time to memorialize a U.S. right-wing speaker whom most Canadians had never heard of. Perhaps he should look after his constituents instead of wading into U.S. culture wars. After all, we do pay his salary. Tickled Pink Thank you to the staff on the third floor at Masterpiece Southland Meadows for taking such great care of our brother, (husband), Len. You guys do amazing work and our family appreciates everything you do in making Len’s life comfortable. Tickled Pink It’s a good think the mayor isn’t determined by who has the largest and most obnoxious signs. Ticked Off I know Linda Tooth loves cats, but come on. Maus is a Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novel written over 40 years ago. To use animals to depict humans is a fairly common narrative technique (Animal Farm, Garfield). Art Spiegelman was writing about the experiences of his father, a Holocaust survivor. Ticked Off With Justin Wright’s description of an inverted bell curve (his term was a well curve). Does he not realize where the UCP are presently positioning their party? The UCP are creating this divide with their present philosophy, including the Alberta Next campaign. Tickled Pink Very pleased to see that Cheryl Phaff is running for city council. As a well educated, mature and intelligent woman she brings common sense and practical ideas and solutions to the table. Ticked Off Every time I read a column by Justin Wright, I am reminded how he lives in an echo chamber of simpletons. He’s an embarrassment. The riding deserves what it is getting, which is nothing. Tickled Pink That a reader recommended the mayor’s legal fees be paid. As well, the mayor’s loss of income with interest should be paid. As the reader suggested, if the city does not have the funds for reimbursement, it should come out of councillors’ salaries. Ticked Off Enough with the darn chickens in the city. If you want livestock, move to the country. I don’t want your chickens next to my house. They will bring even more wildlife to the area trying to get in to eat them. This is ridiculous. Ticked Off Council voting for a salary increase. Isn’t that a conflict of interest? Can anyone else do that? Teachers, health care workers, etc. can’t just give themselves raises. Oh wait, politicians do it all the time. What a society we live in. Ticked Off I just read Justin Wright’s column in the paper. I cannot believe what he said about Charlie Kirk. Charlie Kirk, the man who said a few gun deaths are worth the cost to uphold gun rights. Hated abortion rights, hated LBGTQ rights. Hated everything that was not redneck America. An MLA should represent all of their constituents, not just the far right. 63
