Tickled Pink With the positive attitude of the guy we met on the Echo Dale bike path. The crank on his bike failed and he was walking it home but he was still cheerful and thinking about the other activities he can do, like running, until he gets his bike fixed. Ticked Off Completely flabbergasted that our city small business licence went from $323.00 to $800 year, representing at 147% increase. Kick us when we are down. Tickled Pink Wouldn’t it just make sense to permit sales of Chinese EVs in Canada if they construct a plant in Canada to build them here, using Canadian labour and give us all the designs and technology behind them? And maybe we should stop growing so much canola if China doesn’t want that crop from Canada any longer? Ticked Off Anybody who thinks Trudeau’s term wasn’t a disaster for Canadians must be living on another planet. Ticked Off How the heck is Alberta $6.5 billion in the red? What has the UCP been spending money on? Useless rugs, 12% pay increase, stupid town halls, giving oil, coal and gas free passes, etc. I could understand if we actually were in debt because we raised the living wage, put money into health, education and other professions. Ticked Off Good luck with home insurance premiums if building a second smaller unit for occupants in your backyard. I can assure you it will nearly double, not to mention parking concerns as most would be built on a big lot, which in this city means having a back alley. So your secondary suite residents will be parking on street. Ticked Off I think a better location for the shelter would be on Railway St. where the old Honda building is. Large enough and more central. Ticked Off At zucchini. I hate when people give me zucchini. I don’t want zucchini. You’re not being generous giving me all the extra zucchini you planted. I’m going to feel guilty throwing it out and wasting it. Or I’m going to make some muffins that I’ll never eat. If you want to do something nice for me, get me a Keg gift card. But no one gets excited when someone gives them a ton of zucchini. (Editor’s note: Bring the muffins here, we’ll eat ’em.) Tickled Pink If Alberta was the 51st state we could keep our taxes in our state and not be controlled by the left-wing nuts down East. Ticked Off Equalization is costing Alberta taxpayers $25 billion this year. That’s enough money to build a brand-new hospital every two weeks. Something pro Canada petition signers should consider. (Editor’s note: This is unequivocally false. The entirety of the equalization program for 2024-25 was $25.3 billion, paid for from federal taxes which every Canadian taxpayer pays at the same rates we do. The premier used this figure at a recent Alberta Next panel event. She was wrong, but we suspect she knows that.) Tickled Pink The team at the city parks and recreation; Scott and Jeremy specifically are doing a great job! They consulted with the seniors pickleball group prior to completing design work on the Strathcona Courts. Our thanks to them! We are looking forward to using the new courts when they are available! Ticked Off I’m not sure how anyone can call what was done to Division Avenue S. as traffic calming. Everyone I know finds it irritating and frustrating, and if anything has the opposite effect of being calming. Tickled Pink Just saw a picture of a trail in Michigan with a speed limit sign of 10 m/h (18 km/h). Sounds like a good idea for our park trails. There is no rush to go hiking on our paths. Scooters should not rule. Slow down and enjoy. Ticked Off The problem with Albertans is that the richer we get, the bigger whiners we become. We do not have much to complain about. Why is our provincial government whining so much? Tickled Pink That every week night I get to sit on the couch with the cutest girl in town and drink our tea while watching Jeopardy! She gets them right, I get them wrong! How does she know so much? Ticked Off That the Stampede Board allows a separatist group under the guise of “The Alberta Next Panel” to hold a propaganda filled rally on their grounds. If they need a loan for upgrades, maybe they should ask their good buddy, the premier, for the funds instead of laying the burden on city taxpayers. Ticked Off Someone should advise Premier Smith that sticking your fingers in your ears and saying ‘la la la’ loudly over and over again is not an effective political tactic. Turning off the microphone doesn’t change anything, Smith continues to attack the poorest and most marginalized members of Alberta’s communities. Tickled Pink Thanks for the laugh to the person who said they want Nenshi as premier. He would pretend to care about health and education, just like Notley, and spend money that Alberta doesn’t have. He will fill his pockets, empty the pockets of Albertans and leave the younger generations with exponentially more debt than when he started. We have seen this movie before. Ticked Off We just witnessed an adorable Canadian moment in the Costco parking lot. Two cars were backing out and almost hit each other. They rolled down their windows and the one driver called out, “We almost made friends in the wrong way, eh?” 39
