Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, Aug. 28, 2025

Tickled Pink

Went to Montana last week. Never seen a longer lineup of Canadians crossing the border and the shortest time ever talking to the border guard. Glacier Park visitors up 2.2% over last year. Trump is not suffering by people who say they won’t go over, only they are by isolating themselves. (Editor’s note: Maybe not, but have you seen the man lately? He is definitely suffering from something.)

Tickled Pink

Government policies may change, but as individuals we can continue to boycott U.S. products in favour of those produced in this country. “Elbows up!” should remain a constant.

Ticked Off

Due to the excessive cutbacks and clawbacks by the UCP government, I’ll be voting for NDP or Liberals in the future.

Ticked Off

Are all conservatives bullies to people on AISH, or is it just our premier? (Editor’s note: Not all conservatives even voted for her, so lumping everyone into one category over this individual policy decision is hardly fair.)

Ticked Off

Even more with CHAT shutting down, because now we don’t get CFCN out of Lethbridge. I miss our local news broadcast by local people made for us.

Ticked Off

We can look into nuclear energy and high-speed trains but can’t afford COVID vaccinations to protect Albertans. Pretty weak.

Ticked Off

I usually donate money annually to the UCP as a political contribution, but this year I need the money to pay for my COVID shot. Sorry, Ms. Smith.

Tickled Pink

My family is so grateful for the efforts of Kym Porter and her colleagues for their untiring efforts through he Medicine Hat Drug Overdose Coalition. Also, local police for their continuing efforts policing drug dealers, and the Medicine Hat News for reporting on these activities in our city.

Tickled Pink

If the revised parks bylaw would allow me to take a peaceful walk in our parks without having to constantly be on the alert for wheeled speedsters.

Tickled Pink

I’m reminded constantly of the importance of being curious. The story of a new species of prehistoric dragonfly discovered in the Drumheller valley. Children are naturally curious and need be encouraged in that regard. Think about how exciting it is to ‘discover’ something new to you (and/or the world).

Ticked Off

By eliminating a couple of our provincial leaders’ many trips to the U.S. and Europe, we could pay for all the COVID shots to Albertans.

Ticked Off

That a certain running candidate for council expects us to vote for them when they can’t speak without letting those F-bombs fly. So you call yourself professional enough to represent us citizens of Medicine Hat? Not happening.

Ticked Off

The fact we even need to discuss Castle Law in Canada just shows how far we have gone downhill in the last 10 years of Liberal rule. I promise that if someone breaks into my home, they will be forfeiting any rights they think they have, and there won’t be any soft-on-crime liberals around to protect them. (Editor’s note: Just as an FYI, right or wrong, you couldn’t beat an intruder beyond reason 11 years ago either.)

Tickled Pink

With the “Heritage in the Hat” column. Fascinating look at our past. Actual historic spots we can walk past. Very cool. So are the reprinted pages from the past. Thank you.

Ticked Off

Ha Ha that’s the best one I have heard in years ,, Your saying that the salary for the councilors in Medicine Hat works out to $45,476 annually , Is that putting in 8 hours a day 5 day a week ..that to me is a full time job. Not one day a month , lets get real here none of them even get close to that ,, Waste of my tax money. (Editor’s note: Tax dollars may have been wasted in your high school English and social studies classes, but we didn’t end schools because of it, did we? Councillors don’t work ‘one day a month,’ and not liking the current group is not a free pass to leave reality. But good news, you have a few weeks still to declare candidacy for this laughably easy position.)

Ticked Off

The News made a headline showing 200 rejected ballots in the recent Battle River-Crowfoot byelection, but failed to mention in the last election (with final results 2021) there were 238 rejected ballots. So in fact, it appears there were fewer rejected ballots with the “write-in” system. Not a very big deal at all. (Editor’s note: As was printed in the byline, that story was Canadian Press, not the News, and one only needed to read the first two paragraphs to know the entire point was that “just over 200 rejected ballots” wasn’t many, highlighted by reporting that 211 works out to 0.4% of the total votes cast. Honestly, the attempts to make it seem like we are trying to convince people of something are getting lamer each time. We can only present the information, we can’t understand it for you.)

Ticked Off

At Hatters who disagree with helping Ukraine fight off Russian aggression. If Russia is not stopped they will target other countries as well. Don’t forget Russia is only 20 miles from Alaska, which is close to Canada and the Northern waterways.
