Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, June 19, 2025

By Ticked Off - Tickled Pink on June 19, 2025.

Tickled Pink

With the decades of service from my friendly, surprisingly well stocked, neighbourhood Hill Home Hardware. So convenient. Its small size meant you could quickly grab what you needed and be out. And close enough to ride my bicycle or walk over. Miss you already, Dale and Tony and everyone.

Tickled Pink

With all the drivers who stopped this past Monday morning on Trans-Canada Way to let a duck family safely cross the road!

Ticked Off

Why is it not a law that bicycles have a warning system like a bell on their bikes when driving on walking paths and sidewalks? I have been almost hit walking my dog.

Ticked Off

At the state of some of Alberta’s roads. Travelled 3,000 kilometres, about 1,000 was on poor roads. Highway 56, part of, Yellowhead from Elk Island to north Battleford and so on.

Ticked Off

That so many things that are good for the economy are bad for personal and planetary health. Even more ticked that those promoting mining and logging on the eastern slopes don’t recognize the connection – or maybe even don’t care.

Tickled Pink

If government would find the money they need by cutting or eliminating government and executive government’s travel budget, and leave vaccine and health care alone.

Ticked Off

If you’re not eligible, you’ll be paying for your own COVID vaccine in Alberta. Another way to “balance the budget” when those who can’t afford the vaccine have to spend time in a hospital.

Ticked Off

Dental fees need a cap, it’s ridiculous how much and how long it takes to get some procedures done. With a measly $1,500 coverage, getting a root canal eats that up then you’re supposed to get a crown. Give me a break. I looked after my teeth for well over 55 years and that in itself had cost a fortune.

Ticked Off

Yes, let us build another pipeline so the clowns we have in charge can waste our resources and income twice as fast.

Tickled Pink

If the residents of Heron Crossing would use a local development levy to pay for their $1.2M trail. As Van-Dyke calculated, it’s only $55K/household, and then the city can focus on the other real priorities.

Ticked Off

At how many uninformed people there are who write into TOTP. If you are going to have an opinion, at least be informed.

Ticked Off

Many U.S. Republicans accuse the Democrats of not believing in God. So they elected a devil to be president.

Tickled Pink

At the number of trees the city is planting. It’s awesome. Lienweber Park was one of the ones I noticed.

Ticked Off

“Cartoonishly evil” is an interesting (and apt) phrase to stick on our premier. It conjured several cartoon images in my head. Her rearranging our health expenses (and others) matches Mr. Trump’s rearrangements of the world trade situation. Similar thinking? We peons don’t matter to her.

Tickled Pink

I would be if council paid the legal fees for our mayor. They had no problems paying the fees for the suit brought on by one council woman who started this whole fiasco. The sanctions were ruled to be unreasonable. All other parties’ fees were paid. Now it’s time to finish this ordeal by paying the balance instead of wasting time debating this issue, and get on with city business.

Tickled Pink

With the city road engineers. Since we still have ancient laws requiring cars to give room to bicycles why are all the new roads without a shoulder? Instead they have a curb. That forces the automobile traffic to sit behind a bike until they can safely cross the centre lane. It seems you aren’t making roads safer but more challenging. (Editor’s note: Any chance you noticed the 10-foot-wide trail beside the road?)

Tickled Pink

Enjoyed the Ag Show because all the vendors were friendly, smiling and engaging even though they knew I wasn’t there to buy anything they were selling. So nice to see a building full of people who know how to engage in polite face-to-face conversation and not have their phones in their hands. Great folks.

Ticked Off

That people want to desperately hang on to COVID fear. I ignored it throughout its run, never missed a day of work and remain healthy. You’re making yourself sick with stress. (Editor’s note: Why do you care what other people do? Are you against freedom?)

Ticked Off

Amazing that the mayor gets herself into a mess, hires whatever lawyers she wants at whatever rates, and then expects me, the taxpayer, to cover those bills. Meanwhile, I can’t afford a lawyer for myself.

Ticked Off

It seems it was hard enough to get people to take the COVID vaccine, and now they are going to charge for it, making it even more unlikely people will get it. What a shame.

Ticked Off

That not word out any politician’s mouth is true anymore. Once voted in, it’s onto their own agenda of cow manure.

Ticked Off

No to the mayor’s request for legal fund reimbursement. One of your jobs is overseeing city administration. That means getting along. This lawsuit did not benefit the city. It was your childish ego trip to force your will. Those are not qualities of a mayor. Costs were not in the course of your duties representing the public. It was unprofessional and personal.

Ticked Off

How can the mayor vote on motions that benefit herself? Shouldn’t this disqualify her? is the rest of council looking into this?

Tickled Pink

I’ve never been a supporter of the Liberal Party. Having said that, I just finished watching Prime Minister Carney answering questions live at the G7 Summit. I am thoroughly impressed with his intelligence, off-the-cuff humour and how he answers much more thoroughly than just the question itself. I think we have a great leader here.

Ticked Off

It was very concerning seeing some members of council targeting Mayor Clark at Monday’s council. And to think some of these very individuals are educating our youth. Is this the right behaviour to be teaching our youth.

Tickled Pink

With the MLA Report celebrating seniors and their caregivers, but no mention of the new policy requiring many of them to pay for the COVID vaccine to protect themselves. Maybe should have waited a couple of weeks for people to forget before writing it.

Ticked Off

If responsible leadership had supported and encouraged vaccinations, how much needless suffering could have been avoided then and now? Is polio next?

Tickled Pink

To the city for trimming the large tree at the corner of Ross Glen Drive and Carry Drive. Now you can see who is coming when you’re at the intersection. Thanks. You probably prevented an accident. Thank you. Thank you. Great job.

Tickled Pink

Although it was not a random poll, it is great to see that 70% don’t agree with the province’s decision to make most Albertas pay out of pocket for COVID vaccines. The premier will be ticked off.

Ticked Off

At big-box stores. You ask us for donations to the food bank, etc., but you do not match our donations. Instead you use our money to get a charity tax write-off while squeezing us for groceries. Shameful and greedy.

Ticked Off

A plebiscite or referendum is the worst idea related to the MCC proposal. The public is not at all qualified to make this decision. Let the experts and elected representatives do their jobs.

Ticked Off: – Why is it not a law that bicycles have a warning system like a bell on their bikes when driving on walking paths and sidewalks? I have been almost hit walking my dog.
Actually it is, unfortunately a lot of cyclists are ignorant of the law. Very similar to the parents of kids under 18 who do not bother buying a cycle helmet for them.
