Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, June 12, 2025

By Ticked Off - Tickled Pink on June 12, 2025.

Tickled Pink

Would be if we get a better calibre group of city councillors voted in this election. We have the right manager in place to mentor them.

Ticked Off

When the UCP was formed I assumed the Progressive Conservative Party was taking over the Wildrose Party. Wrong. The radical members of Wildrose took over the new party. No progressives seem to exist. I would like to see more rational thinking.

Ticked Off

To the opinionated reader who compared Trump supporters to lemmings in the June 3 TOTP. You know that’s just a myth right? Lemmings don’t follow each other off of cliffs, it was a hoax put in a 1958 Disney pseudo-documentary to make northern wildlife seem less boring. I feel you have the urge to let random people know your “professional” political opinion. If you’re going to compare, don’t be factually incorrect.

Tickled Pink

When Alberta separates it will reduce Ottawa’s spending by $60 billion. Now that is what I call a win-win.

Ticked Off

Those who think Alberta would be better off separate from federal, really do not understand how financially taxing it would become for Albertans. Yes, higher taxes would have to be there.

Ticked Off

Alberta government is back on the U.S. alcohol train but that doesn’t mean Albertans need to buy it. Let it sit on the shelves to show support for Canadian breweries and Canadian microbreweries.

Ticked Off

Driving on Division Avenue S is stressful. The roads are perfect for rickshaws and scooters, not for Canadian vehicles. Common sense is needed from city engineers.

Ticked Off

No kidding people don’t trust the judicial system. We elect lawmakers that are expected to write the laws of the land. The appointed judges then throw them in the garbage at their will. How often do you see unanimous decisions in appeal or supreme courts? Is it the law or isn’t it?

Ticked Off

Quit freaking out about the river. It is a river with a dam on it. The dam holds back water to grow food but lets the appropriate amount still go downstream to provide for all our needs. We only need to get concerned when the reservoirs run dry, and this year they are looking very good.

Ticked Off

There’s an old adage that says, “You have to spend money to make money.” JPMG obviously didn’t spend much money on CHAT-TV. After the studio was flooded, JPMG shuts CHAT down with prepared excuses. CHAT-TV was doomed the minute Pattison Media took over.

Ticked Off

If by some colossal miscarriage of justice Alberta does separate, I’ll happily move to another province because I’m a proud Canadian who loves this country. If you think a proven small fringe minority should dictate how the rest of us should live, then you certainly don’t belong here.

Tickled Pink

Can we please have just one day of all tickled pink submissions? We need to bring in some positivity. (Editor’s note: We do this for a few issues at Christmas time and have to solicit them from the public just to have enough to run.)

Ticked Off

Again our premier is showing her likeness to the orange guy down south by diverting our thoughts away from the local critical issues of health care, the education system, interprovincial trade, coal mining, etc. She doesn’t seem to care about the ordinary Albertans.

Ticked Off

Mark Carney truly is a clown. Banning gas powered vehicles in 10 years? Nah, all the liberals can give up theirs if they want, I am not buying some overpriced, toxic-for-the-environment EV ever.

Ticked Off

I hope the talk of spending $1 million to build a trail to the new subdivision is a joke. If developers want to develop a subdivision then it should be up to them to provide amenities and infrastructure to complement the development. Why should taxpayers pay for it? We charge off-site levies for all the other infrastructure and this is just one more item.

Ticked Off

At recent behaviour from two local so-called media and their behaviour toward city staff, harassing them. And one wants to be a city councillor? I don’t think so.

Tickled Pink

As a SE Hill resident who regularly walks and drives in the areas of traffic calming, I believe it has done some good. We can grumble about lanes too narrow, boulevards too wide or roundabouts confusing, but it has had a positive effect on traffic flow. This is a neighbourhood. Drivers should be slowing down and using caution. If navigating the changes is difficult, maybe we’d all benefit from a driver training refresher.

Ticked Off

That in the last 12 years Alberta teachers have received less than a 6% wage increase. Seven of those years were 0%.

Ticked Off

That the city is considering removing, or moving, the community flag pole at city hall because a few homophobic residents complained last summer about an inclusive pride flag hanging from it. Groups need representation and support. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community I was extremely happy to see it flying, also equally disappointed when it was removed because of bigots.

Ticked Off

Let the ‘One Canadian Economy’ plan begin. The first huge contract has gone to China. Carney and his circus are a joke.
