Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, June 5, 2025

Ticked Off

I resent the sizable grant given to the women’s shelter. It wasn’t for cost overruns but nonexistent budgeting. Why should the taxpayers of our city pay for poor management? I don’t foolishly renovate my house when I can’t afford it and then demand that my neighbour pay for it.

Ticked Off

At those individuals who do not recognize the financial value of the oil and gas industry to Alberta. The annual revenue for Alberta is app. 74B$. The oil and gas industry contributes approximately $25B to that revenue. No other industry even comes close. And the money from oil and gas is spent on education, health, roads, lower taxes, etc. So yes, the average Albertan benefits from oil and gas revenues.

Ticked Off

Those who think separatism is the way to go… want to pay high private health-care premiums, do not care about getting OAS, do not need GIS, dental programs, child tax rebates, etc. What about no paid paternity leave? Infrastructure, education and health care are federally supported. Ten-dollar-a-day child care, federal support.

Ticked Off

About what’s with Pattison closing down CHAT-TV. Medicine Hat in many ways is fast becoming small town. This is insane. Come on, Pattison, please continue broadcasting Medicine Hat’s only chance for TV local news.

Ticked Off

That for the life of me no one can make a decent forecast of even just a day of weather. With all the technology there is absolutely no rhythm or reason to this weather.

Ticked Off

Who would have thought CHAT-TV would be closing their doors. Thank you for your years of service!

Ticked Off

A sad day for Medicine Hat, with CHAT-TV closing its doors. I will miss not seeing the news. Another thing closing in our forgotten corner. Will be missed.

Ticked Off

Mark Carney doesn’t want to table a budget yet, but wants to be able to spend nearly half of a trillion dollars freely. Included in that will be a 35 per cent increase in consulting fees, something he promised he would reduce.

Ticked Off

What is with this trend to make our roads more dangerous? It used to be big and wide and clean with minimal distractions. Now they are narrow with concrete curbs, and obstacles are placed in the middle of the road and yet another sign planted to warn you of the obstacle. What is the point to adding hazards? Examples, Carry Drive and Southview, Kipling and Third, Finlay Bridge and First Street.

Tickled Pink

To be Canadian where I get OAS in the future, CPP in the future, had paternity leave, had employment insurance when needed, getting the new Canadian Dental Plan coverage, will get GIS and GST if I qualify. Canadian is great.

Ticked Off

Division of health care actually will cost more administrative money. Besides, it has been done before and it didn’t work.

Ticked Off

Danielle Smith is trying to privatize health care. Be prepared to buy costly private health-care insurance.

Ticked Off

This city is for sure dying, and yet even now CHAT-TV is no longer viable because the powers that be can’t get it together. Please, folks, remember this city is not a booming place and cut our cloth accordingly.

Tickled Pink

With the person who has a supportive family. Relationships with family or friends are different for everyone – not always good. But I am glad you feel supported and I hope others find that as well.

Tickled Pink

With the food drive organization. Leaving bags out with instructions a week ahead was great. Made it easy to participate. Not sure who ran it but other door knockers could learn from this campaign. Well done, folks.

Ticked Off

That CHAT-TV is closed. I don’t think this would have happened if Bill Yuill still owned it. He would have found a way to keep it profitable. The callus way in which the loyal employees were treated sickens me. I guess for some people only money counts. People do not.

Tickled Pink

I would be to see a local group get together and buy the assets of CHAT-TV and revive it, if not it is a huge loss to the city. With the profits of the Pattison Group I’m sure they could give back a little by absorbing a loss from one station. It would be nice if they decided to give back to the community that supported them all these years.
