Ticked Off and Tickled Pink, April 22, 2025

Ticked Off

For many years everyone had their babies immunized against measles, scarlet fever, chickenpox. As a result the diseases were nearly eliminated. In recent years people have often failed to do that, saying it isn’t necessary anymore. Now there are outbreaks of measles starting up all over. Please have your children immunized, or we will be in even greater trouble.

Ticked Off

At people who think that government-provided health care is magic that can only be done in Canada.

Tickled Pink

That my cell phone provider has a free “Call Control” feature that has resulted in me not receiving any scam calls since I activated it.

Ticked Off

How can a certain gas station justify $0.55 more for premium gas. It should adjust accordingly to the price of regular gas coming down.

Tickled Pink

So happy I don’t live in Red Deer, what a dump. Medicine Hat is way more beautiful.

Tickled Pink

With people speaking out against bad dog owners. Too bad there wasn’t a way to regulate how to get a dog. You need a licence to drive, have a gun and go fishing for heaven’s sake. But anyone can get a dog. Way too many people with dogs do it for their own self interest and don’t give two rips about training the dog and getting it proper exercise.

Tickled Pink

Based off the French Leaders debate I was ahead of the curve on not buying U.S. goods. I haven’t had the money to buy liquor, strawberries or beef in years.

Ticked Off

Why in this day and age can credit card companies charge outrageous interest rates? My bill of $700, if paying the $27 minimum, will take 7.5 years to pay off. That’s $2,740 total. And we get upset when gas goes up a dime, or we pay an extra $10 a month in taxes. Why don’t our politicians fix this? This would help people a lot faster than promising a tax cut.

Ticked Off

Medicine Hat gas is more expensive than in some parts of Ontario, The question is, why?

Tickled Pink

With the new mirror on the blind corner on the trail going under the train bridge. Can we get one on the blind corner on the trail in Police Point Park as well?

Tickled Pink

As a visitor to Medicine Hat, I love and appreciate the excellent walking paths around the Carry Drive area in the city. It’s nice to have a wide walking path that is far away from the busy road that also loops through some pretty parks.

Ticked Off

Bylaw is a waste of time for property issues. Within a two-block radius there is all sorts of equipment, flatbeds, etc., sitting in front yards or driveways, on street, exceeding the allowable in front yards. Wake up. Yuma, Ariz. has an ugly-trailer rule there.

Tickled Pink

To see a local MLA is gathering more travel miles than the former prime minister – and we called him a globe trotter. Can’t wait for the published account of her accomplishments, as I am sure she wants to be accountable as an elected public servant.

Ticked Off

That our elected representative heads off to Japan when government in session. Shouldn’t she be at work? Maybe we are avoiding questions regarding ethics, and that is easier out of country.

Tickled Pink

With Premier Smith off to Japan and South Korea, I would be tickled pink if she would send me her free Oiler playoff tickets.

Tickled Pink

Ahhh, spring in Medicine Hat. Time for boomers to start complaining about dogs.

Ticked Off

At the mindset of a president who “claims his tariffs are making the U.S. rich.” Doesn’t he realize it is happening at the expense of everyday Americans? Tariffs don’t make the citizens rich, only the government.

Ticked Off

With parents in Redcliff that think it’s OK for young kids to be riding double on small e-bike, you can’t even see them over the hood of your truck. This should not be allowed. These kids were very young, maybe seven to nine years old.

Ticked Off

Watched West of Centre and listened to former MLA Michaela Frey say she stepped down so Danielle Smith could run in this area. I very clearly recall her saying at the time she was stepping down to pursue other interests. In other words, she lied.

Tickled Pink

Someone should hold a kite festival in Medicine Hat. We have the wind!

Ticked Off

What were Smith’s promises running for office? Separating? We have been there already. RCMP? Leave it alone. Health care ? Making it worse. Pension Plan? It’s doing fine. Could she tell us what happened to our heritage trust fund? Tell us why government employees get a pension after so few years. Keep it up, you’ll find yourself without a riding.

Tickled Pink

Read the recent letter to editor regarding Alberta Prosperity. Very well written. I 100% agree that pensions belong to the employee, not to Alberta government.

Tickled Pink

If Albertans really look at what their elected MLA has done before blindly voting the same way they always have. Medicine Hat and area needs a change, someone new.

Tickled Pink

To see our MLA enjoying a train ride while on her tour of Japan, and looking forward to the huge steps in trade she will be bringing home and reporting to Alberta.

Ticked Off

An article about overdoses in Saskatoon said, “If we were to properly invest in housing, in health care, in education, we would not be in the situation that we are in. As a country we have failed in these areas.” Sure, spending more money may help. You know what would help more? Intact families that share meals at the table together. When a society loses the importance of family, the society falls apart (while blaming the government).
